ACTIVITIES
LEADERSHIP AND GOVERNANCE
Two fellows from Samoa attended the Pacific Leadership Program in 2025, and are being mentored by Ms Kimberly Idip, Nursing Manager, Hospital Nursing Services. Through the program, their leadership skills were developed as they identified key issues in Palau that needed to be addressed.
In February 2026, the PLP fellows organised an SPCNMOA Program in-country visit with the WHO CCNMH UTS team, which included consultations with various stakeholders and a gathering of background information and relationship building for future health system strengthening efforts. Visit details are documented below in the brief.
REGULATION
A regulation webinar series was held between November 2024-February 2025, during which Samoa's regulatory status was established through the "traffic lights" approach after exploring regulatory frameworks. Through the webinars, participants compiled baseline data, analysed data from the State of the World's Nursing Reports and Regional Quality Improvement Program (RQIP) reports, which were expanded upon during the in-country workshop.
SPCNMOA Regulation Webinar Series
The SPCNMOA Program taskforce is responsible for prioritising and planning ongoing and future work to establish regional standards. Current and future works include reviewing and updating registration legislation.
